September Activity - Zip It Up!

Hi parents! Welcome back to our site! Did your child enjoy matching their stationaries last month? Let us know how it went in the comments section! In this month’s activity, we will be teaching our children how to use a zip!

You will need the following materials for this activity:

1) Zips (can be bought from Diaso, or cut out from your old garment)
2) 2 sets of different coloured stickers
3) Cardboard
4) Tape
5) Scissors
>
Here’s how you can carry out the activity:

Step 1: Tape the zips down onto the cardboard on both sides. Secure it further with another piece of tape at the bottom of the zip.

Step 2: Stick one blue dot sticker at the top of the zip, and one green dot sticker at the bottom of the zip.

Step 3: Teach your child to pull the zipper from the blue dot to the green dot.

For parents who are looking to carry this activity out in another way, you can use zips which are bigger for easier grip.

Try this functional skill activity with your child today! Once your child have mastered the zipping technique, get them to zip things that they will see in their daily lives such their as pencil case and jacket. Let us know in the comments section below how it went! Have an enjoyable time with your child! :)
