Here’s how you can carry out the activity:

Before we begin, you can download our card template and print it out first.

Step 2: Using the colour pencils, trace the outline of the tree and stars and encourage your child to trace on their own as well.

Step 3: Follow the dotted lines and trace out the words. Allow your child to try on their own and provide hand on hand support when needed.

Step 4: Write a message inside the card. Encourage your child to try writing on their own and provide support if needed.

Step 5: Colour and design the front of the card! For parents who are looking to carry this activity out in another way, you can use stickers to design the card instead of colouring them in. Alternatively, you can use the blank paper and draw in the design freehand. Be creative and have fun!

August Activity - Match the Objects!

Hi parents! Welcome back to our site! Did your child enjoy matching the utensils and sorting them into the compartments last month? Let us know how it went in the comments section! In this month’s activity, we will be matching daily objects to a picture of it.

You will need the following materials for this activity:

1) Daily objects (eg Stationeries)
2) Photos of the daily objects* (eg take photos of the stationeries you want to use and print them out)

*We will be using stationeries in the following example.

Here’s how you can carry out the activity:

Step 1: Lay out the photos of the stationeries in one line, and the stationeries in a pile beside it.

Step 2: Demonstrate to your child how to match a stationery to a photo of it. Place the item next to the photo. You can repeat the demonstration with another stationery item.

Step 3: Point to the next photo in the line and encourage your child to find the stationery that matches what he/she sees in the photo.

Step 4: Repeat the process with another stationery!

For parents who are looking to carry this activity out in another way, here are some suggestions for you:

1) You can use pairs of objects that are the same and get your child to match them. Child will have to match two 3-D objects together in this variation of the activity.
2) You can prepare a few picture cards and get your child to match them. Child will have to match two 2-D pictures in this variation.

June Activity - Match the Numbers!

Hi parents! Welcome back to our site! Hope you had fun folding your laundry with your child last month! We will be updating this page every month so be sure to check out this page for creative ideas! For this month, we will be doing the activity “Match the Numbers”.

You will need the following materials for this activity:

1) Plate
2) Number Cards
3) Poms Poms

Here’s how you can carry out the activity:

Step 1: Place a number card on the plate.

Step 2: Invite child to match the number of poms poms with the number shown on the card.

Step 3: Repeat with another number!

You can try this activity with other materials too! Instead of using a plate and poms poms, you can use a basket and bigger plastic balls.

Place a number card into the basket, and get your child to put in the right amount of balls.

The use of bigger plastic balls makes it easier for your child to grasp the objects and complete the activity. The main idea here is to provide a chance for your child to learn numeracy skill, and learn how to match number of items to the number shown on the card.

Some of you parents may be looking for an extension on this activity, and here's a suggestion of what you can do!

You can incorporate a simple part-part-whole relationship and get your child to practice addition. Here's how you can go about running the activity with your child:

Step 1: Place 2 number cards on the smaller segment of the plate.

Step 2: Encourage your child to match the number of poms poms with the number shown on the card respectively.

Step 3: Get your child to add all the number of poms poms by moving them to the bigger segment of the plate and counting them.

April Activity - Treasures in a bag!

Hello parents and caregivers! Welcome to our website! In here, you will be able to find some activities that you can do together with your child at home. We will be updating this page every month so be sure to check out this page for creative ideas!
For this month, we will be doing the activity “Treasures in a bag!”.

You will need the following materials for this activity:

1) Rice/ Beans (approximately 6 cups)
2) 1 large Ziplock Bag
3) 2 sets of identical 3D alphabets

Here’s how you can carry out the activity:

Step 1: Pour the rice/ beans into the ziplock bag.

Step 2: Place one set of the alphabets into the ziplock bag. You will use the other set of alphabets later.

Step 3: Close the ziplock bag and shake the bag well. You will want to ensure that all the alphabets in the bag are covered by the rice/ beans.

Step 4: Get your child to put his/her hand into the ziplock bag and find the alphabets one by one. Line the other set of alphabets on the table. When your child finds an alphabet from the bag, ask him/her to match it to the set of alphabets on the table. Keep going until all the alphabets have been found and matched!

You can try this activity with other materials too! Instead of getting your child to find alphabets, you can also use 3D shapes or placards with simple words written on them.

The main idea here is to provide a chance for your child to have a tactile sensory activity, learn how to match items based on their properties and have a fun and enjoyable time!

Try it with your child today and let us know in the comments section below how it went! Have an enjoyable time with your child!
