May Activity - It's Folding Time!

Hi parents! Welcome back to our site! Hope you had fun trying out the treasures in a bag activity with your child last month! We will be updating this page every month so be sure to check out this page for creative ideas! For this month, we will be doing the activity “It’s Folding Time”.

You will need the following materials for this activity:

1) Pillow Case
2) 2 sets of different coloured sticker dots

Here’s how you can carry out the activity:

Step 1: Open and spread out the pillowcase on a flat surface!

Step 2: Using the same coloured sticker, stick it on 2 ends of the pillowcase. (look at the blue arrows)

Step 3: Use another coloured sticker and stick it on the other 2 ends of the pillowcase! (look at the blue arrows)

Step 4: Fold the pillowcase into half by matching the coloured stickers together!

Step 5: Keep repeating the process until the pillowcase is fully folded. Ensure that the colours of the stickers matches. (i.e. if you stick a green sticker on the bottom left corner of the pillowcase, stick a green sticker on the bottom right corner of the pillowcase too)!

Step 6: Unfold the pillowcase and invite your child to fold the pillowcase from the start. Remember to ensure that your child matches the colours of the stickers when folding!

You can try this activity with other materials too! Instead of getting your child to fold a pillowcase, you can also use a towel!


You can try this activity using a t-shirt too!

The main idea here is to provide a chance for your child to learn a functional skill of folding laundry items.
