Who are we?

We are a team of dedicated researchers from the National Institute of Education (NIE).

Tran-SEN study seeks to understand how children with special educational needs (SEN) develop in the first three years of school. We also hope to understand why children develop differently.

Why is this study important?

This is a large-scale child development project to understand how children with special educational needs (SEN) will develop and adjust over the first three years of school.

By identifying the potential influences and challenges faced by the child, more support can be provided to assist transitioning children with SEN in the future.
